St. Helena Cathedral, located in the heart of Helena, Montana, is a magnificent architectural marvel that has become an iconic symbol of faith and history in the region. Steeped in a rich past, the cathedral holds great significance for the community and Action Equipment and scaffold is honored to be part of such a significant staple in Montana. The history of St. Helena Cathedral dates back to the late 19th century when Helena, the capital city of Montana, was experiencing a rapid rise in population due to the gold rush. The growing number of Catholic worshippers prompted the need for a larger place of worship, leading to the construction of the first St. Helena Cathedral in 1874. However, tragedy struck in 1903 when a devastating earthquake struck Helena, reducing the original cathedral to ruins. Determined to rebuild and restore their beloved house of worship, the parishioners of St. Helena embarked upon a grand project to construct a new and even more magnificent cathedral. Designed by famous architect A. O. Von Herbulis, construction on the present-day St. Helena Cathedral began in 1908, and the cathedral was completed and consecrated in 1914.

 

The cathedral is a stunning example of Gothic Revival architecture, featuring intricate stained glass windows, beautiful carvings, and a grand pipe organ that has become renowned for its exceptional sound quality. The cathedral's impressive spires dominate the skyline of Helena, becoming a focal point for locals and visitors alike. Over the years, St. Helena Cathedral has played a vital role in the spiritual and social life of the community. It has witnessed numerous important events, including papal visits by Pope John Paul II in 1984 and Pope Francis in 2015, which further solidified its place as a pillar of faith in Montana. Today, St. Helena Cathedral continues to serve as a place of worship and a significant historical landmark. It stands as a testament to the resilience and dedication of the Catholic community in Helena, while also welcoming people of all faiths to experience its beauty and tranquility.
